Comments on gold prospecting clean up sluice5
Looking good……..to bad about the carpet…..but now you know…..that's what it's all about.
Not a bad design overall. Might try ribbed carpet at the top in the spraybar section and raised ribbed matting on the lower section. It's alot easier to get gold off the matting than it is from carpet, Also take that black carpey and get it compleatly dry, hold it over a bucket or tub and beat it with a wooden handle. pan what you get from that, may find some finer gold.
Great tips woodman ,Thank you
You'd get better results if you pre-classified the material down to -20 mesh. Anything bigger is easily paned out.
20 mesh is great but a 1/8 would be fine i ushuly screen through some 3/8 punch plate myself and your spray bar looked like it wasn't spraying through the tees drill thoses out as well and it will help, move material down and you will want to add about 1/2-3/4 cup of material at a time otherwise your gold might get washed out with your taillings, also try streching the carpet and shaking it after it drys.
Again great tips ,
Keep them coming.
Thanks to all of you guys who have comented.
ya whats up with all the water…lol you know im trying to make a blue bowl but the thing thats setting me back is i way to heat up the plastic so i can mould it(no money for a heat gun) i have a good way to make it but you know love your videos please make more
if the carpet turns to ash and does not melt if you burn it, burn it and pan the ashes thats oneway of getting the gold out of the carpet.
practice with normal dirt and some lead so you know your not wasting anything, either make your box wider with more water or skinyer with less water and more of a pitch, you gonna test everything out…..just keep on keeping on
yeah the purpose of a clean up sluice is for running your concentrates from your regular sluice or highbanker through. so first classify then run through your sluice then through the cleanup sluice. like only blacksand concentrates need a clean up sluice before panning. ani i would switch the v mat and carpets places so the v mat is under the spraybar at the top. and astro turf will be better than that carpet probly easier to clean and dries faster
excellent design ! One thing like others of said classify !! Your results would of been better. I'd start with a 1/2 then 1/8. Pan them. Then screen the rest thru a 20 mesh then down to 50. Feed them one size at a time in your machine. Those large rocks clog up the system. If this is gonna be a clean up sluice I would use only ribbed matting with expanded metal. Run ribbed matting 3/4 thru the wood sluice and leave the 1/4 bare. After all that you should e good to go. Good luck !
Also meant to put more but ran out of space. Your spray bars will be good. leave the section under the spray bars bare that way material has time to stratify before hitting the ribbed matting. Also after classifying after 1/8 you should classify to 12 mesh and then 20 then 50. I have a wood clean up sluice like yours and it took alot of trial and error but im working on getting it down pat. This is what works for me.
Could always vacum the carpet (with a new bag or bagless vacum), that should get the most out of it.
